Temple Square

We were able to spend some time on Temple Square. It was just as beautiful as always. The spirit is so inviting here, even Emma could feel it. 

One of the sweet Sister missionaries at the Temple gave Emma a picture of Jesus. She had to pose for a picture with it. She made sure bring it all the way home with us too!

One of the most amazing sights at Temple Square is the statue of the Christus. Emma was in awe at the magnificence and beauty of everything she saw. There's nothing better then to see that light in a child's eyes!

We had to pose for a shot in front of the majestic doors to the temple. Yes, Emma is being a ballerina! Gotta love her!

A New Aunt and a New Cousin!!

Two very special things happened while we were out there! 

Matt's brother Nate found a beautiful girl named Jasmine while going to school, and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. It was a wonderful day! We are so happy for them! Congratulations!!!

Emma couldn't wait to see Uncle Nate and her new Aunt Jasmine!

Then the day before we had to leave to travel home, my wonderful sister Lindsay and her husband Lance had a beautiful baby girl: Alexandra Marie Harris! Being able to see the three of them was, for me, truly one of the highlights of our trip. Alex is such a blessing to them, and I couldn't be happier for anyone. She is so precious. Plus, I'M FINALLY AN AUNT and Emma and Tal finally have a cousin!!

We are so thankful for the newest members of our family. We love you all!!

What a wonderful trip! We had such a great time every day that we were there. Matt and I enjoyed thinking back on the fun years we spent in Utah and all the wonderful people we knew! We never get to see everyone that we'd like too, but even though we didn't get to see you, we definitely thought of you. We are already excited for the next trip out there!

"A good old Missouri thunderstorm?!?!"

Good... I think not! I'm not sure that I'll ever get used to these. They are freaky... there is just no other word for it. The clouds seem to roll on top of each other as the wind tries to blow your house down. Then the rain comes. And it comes and it comes and it comes until there is at least a couple inches of water running down the street. Then 10 minuets later... birds singing, sun shining, clouds floating. Give it a couple of hours and you do it all again. Ahhhhhhh....! That's "good old" Missouri weather for ya!!!   

4th of July....?

The 4th of July was one of my favorite holidays growing up. My little town of Fillmore, Ut always put on a great show: a parade (that I was usually in for some reason...), celebrations in the park, and a fabulous fireworks show... so pretty much like every other town I've ever known. Well I think I've found the only place in the U.S.  that doesn't do a thing on the 4th of July, except a wimpy little fireworks show at night. And I live here... Washington, MO. Who doesn't celebrate the 4th... well we don't!! There is a reason for this however. This reason is why most people here get up in the morning, because it brings them one day closer to... THE FAIR! I'm serious. The Washington Town and Country Fair is the first thing people here will tell you about if they know you are new to the area. They pull out all the stops for this celebration: parades, contests, fireworks galore (good ones too, every night), a carnival, petting zoos, concerts (by popular artists I might add), and tons and tons of the greasiest food ever invented for 5 whole days. Sounds fun right? Well it is, cause we went last year and we'll probably go again this year. It's not until the first part of August, but it definitely takes the place of the 4th. Oh well!!!

So to celebrate, we had a ward party at the church and it was a lot of fun. Then instead of going to see the fireworks, you're better off just watching your neighbors! So that's we did, and they were pretty good (there's a fireworks stand or tent selling the really good stuff about every other 2 feet as you drive down the road out here. There are some serious piro maniacs out here apparently)!!! So I didn't go completely without a little sparkle in the sky I guess! I hope the rest of you had at least a "little firecracker" this year!!

The Magic House and Chuck E. Cheese!

Woo... reading the title makes me tired, but it was fun. This last weekend we decided to do something fun with Emma, and I think we accomplished our goal! The Magic House really is a "magical" place here in St. Louis for little kids. We've been there before, but Emma could go back to again and again.

It was a full day of "kiddie joy" and well worth it! And we could tell how much fun Emma had when she fell asleep at 6:00 that night!

Flying...

"I'm flying like a bird!" Yes you are Emma. You are growing into such a sweet, beautiful little girl and the time is "flying!" I enjoy these moments more then you know! I'm so happy with all that you are learning and doing, just don't fly to fast!!

Golfing and Fishing

I've had these pictures for awhile, but wanted to remember Emma's first time golfing and fishing. Matt recently took up golfing. "It's a business expense..." supposedly! And we all now it takes practice to make perfect, so he and Emma went to practice hitting "way far" according to Emma. 

Every time we would go to Target Emma always ended up over by the fishing equipment drooling over a Princess fishing pole. I put it off as long as I could, but after I had Tal Grandma Coleman surprised her with it (good timing I think)! So here she is testing it out on Grandpa's lake. "Mom, sometimes when you go fishing you don't catch a fish!" But I still think she had a great time thanks to Matt!

I've had this picture awhile and had forgotten to post it! That's right Nate, Tal and Matt all snoozin' away-for about 3 hours (I kid you not)!! They talked about that nap for the rest of the day... they must have been pretty proud! Hey guys, where's my nap? I guess I couldn't have taken the picture if I was sawing logs too, right!!! Good job boys!

The company picnic

Last weekend Matt's dad had their annual company picnic where everyone from work comes out to there property and has a great time! There was fishing and swimming in the lake, a shooting contest for the "manly men," four wheeler and jet ski rides, crafts for the kiddies, and some of the best food on the planet! But the part that stole the show was the horse rides. Wow!! It was a hit. Our friend Karen was amazingly kind and brought 2 of her beautiful horses to share with us. Emma and Tal both had some fun friends that came out to party! Emma had such a great time at the lake I couldn't convince her to change out of her swim suit and back into her clothes. Oh well... it's not what's on the body, but what goes in it, right?!?! It was fun for all that came... Good friends, Good food-what more can you ask for!

Matt was in charge of the shooting contest so we went to say hello. Emma put on the ear protection cup-things and wasn't quite sure about it! "I can't hear, Mommy. Let's go!" So we did!

"Scout," the horse was awesome! In the last picture Scout started to trot a bit and took Emma by surprise! What a little cowgirl!

Emma had 2 fun friends to run around with. And needless to say she slept like a champ that night-they wore each other out!

Bubbles and being outside... what could be better then that? Emma and Ali thought it was great. After the bubbles they had some fun on the grass. Although, I'm not sure how much fun Ali is having there on the bottom!

It was a long day, but well worth it! We look forward to the next one!!

Born to be a Cards fan...

Tal is looking very loyal to his team with his new buddy next to him! Emma let Tal borrow her Fred Bird and told him all about who Fred Bird is. She still hopes that one time at the game she'll get to meet the real Fred Bird..."cause he's funny!" We'll work on that!

But for now all Tal needs to know is that the we cheer for the Red Birds... even though they lost last night ;)

2 months old!!!

Tal's is getting bigger and better all the time. He was very tough for his shots today at the doctor's (he had to get 4... no fun). His top notch stats were: 12.8 pounds, 24 inches long, and 15.6 head circumference! Good job buddy! 

Swimming at the pool

It finally stopped raining here so we were able to make use of our sub-division pool. We love having one so close. It's a life saver during the summer!!

Swimming and nail polish!

 


Two of Emma's most favorite things right now: swimming lessons and painting her OWN nails. That's right, she painted her own finger and toe nails. I've never seen her concentrate so hard on something. She was so proud of herself when she was done and made sure they were nice and dry so she wouldn't "smudge" them. Very pretty!

Last week she started swimming lessons. She thinks it's pretty neat to do it without mommy in the pool. She loves her teacher Miss Lyndsey and the other 2 girls in her class (Grace and Tristin). She practices all the things she learns at home. She'll follow me down the hallway doing the "side stroke" (so funny) and then she'll show me the "back stroke" on the way back. She loves to put on a show!

100 things Tag

100 things... seriously Jessi, ok we'll see how this goes! I've also been tagged by Crystal and Amy for kind of the same thing (4 things tag and 3 things tag), so I'll combined them... it will help me out a bit! So here they are, 100 things you always wanted to know (well maybe not "wanted" to know, but will now) about me!

1. My full name is Angeline B. Coleman (the "B" is for my maiden name)

2. I always thought is would be cool if my initials were ABC... well they are!

3. That's actually one of the first things I said to Matt when we started dating, "If we got married my initials would be ABC!" (real smooth right... and how dorky)!!

4. He actually stuck around after that stupid comment and we've been married for 5 years.

5. Matt and I were married March 1, 2003 in the Manti Temple.

6. We have a beautiful little girl named Emma, and she'll be 4 in August.

7. We also have an 8 week old little man, Tal. 

8. I love being their mom. What a blessing!

9. 4 jobs I've had are: dental assistant (for my dad), 

10. Ropes Course Instructor (Snow College), 

11. President's Leadership Team Leader (for Pres. Benson at Snow College)

12. and I currently arrange the travel itineraries for those who travel at Engineered Fire Protection (Matt's work) from home.

36. 3. Someone breaking into my house. Sorry if you have ever been to my house and I've locked you in... it's habit!

37. 3 goals: 1. To be the best mom and wife I can be.

39. 3. To truly make everyone I meet feel welcomed and appreciated. 

40. 3 obsessions/collections: 1. I love to decorate my house... my credit card bill will confirm that at times!!

41. 2. I keep every rose anyone has ever given me (some are just the dried pedals in a vase, but I have every one).

42. 3. When I get in a cleaning mood I clean everything. It's very invigorating.

43. 3 surprising facts about me: 1. When I'm in a new situation I get very, and almost awkwardly, shy. 

44. 2. I don't mind speaking in public.

45. 3. I'm currently working on this one, but I tend to be late when I go places... I hate it and I'm doing much better, right Matt!!

46. I drove an '86 Ford Bronco in high school (loved that thing)!!

47. Now I drive a Ford Edge (love this too)!!!

48. I can't get used to the humidity here (and neither can my hair).

49. The thunderstorms are CRAZY out here too... kind of scary!

51. My favorite time of day is when Matt gets home from work and to see how excited Emma is to see him.

52. My favorite flower is a tulip.

53. I danced all the way through high school and college; the best times ever!!

54. I have a goal of being able to do the splits when I'm 90 (I better get stretching)!

55. I have become a HUGE Cardinals fan. I watch almost every game!

56. I love going to the dentist... because it's my dad!

57. My high school graduating class was the largest our school had ever had up to that point with a whopping 108 students, and yes I knew ever single one.

58. While doing drillteam in high school our team won 3 state titles and 2 National titles!

59. I played softball in high school also, and we took state once!

60. I love playing all sports but...

61. I can't play tennis or golf (I just can't get the hang of either)!

62. I got hit in the mouth during softball practice the day before our National Drillteam Competition in California (my lip was enormous).

63. Icecream is not my favorite thing (sad, I know).

64. I love staying home and learning from Emma and Tal.

65. I love Saturday mornings when all 4 of us cuddle in our bed (I'm really going to miss that as the kids get bigger).

66. This is getting hard...

67. I have broken my left arm twice, both times from falling off the monkey bars.

68. I have discovered the BEST drink in the world: A raspberry, vanilla limeade from Sonic. I promise you it will make a bad day good again!!!

69. I'm the oldest in my family... but the shortest at 5'9''

70. My sister Lindsay is 6'3''(and beautiful) and her husband Lance is 6'9''

71. My brother Corbin is 6'6 and I not sure how tall his wife Rachel is, but she's got me beat!

72. And my youngest brother Tyrel is also about 6'6''!

73. I love my mom and dad and siblings very, very much.

74. I have the greatest in-laws ever. I feel pretty blessed to be a part of their caring family!

75. I love to make lists, like Jessi. I would be lost without my lists!

76. When I was younger I dreamed of ice skating in the Olympics... to this day I've never put on a pair of ice skates. I guess it's never to late right?!?!

77. I'm so excited to be an aunt!! My sister is having her first baby in July (I think I mentioned that, but I'm really excited)!!!

78. I love blogging and keeping in touch with those I love.

79. I'm not a big fan of scrapbooking. Although my friend Emily has introduced me to digital scrapbooking... I'm still working on figuring that out.

81. When I was younger we used to "pick rocks" in the farm to get ready to plant

82. We also used to move the cattle from pasture to pasture. I can't say that I liked doing these things then, but looking back it was pretty great!

83. I love a freshly vacuumed floor.

85. I really like to eat cereal.

86. Growing up, my sister was my best friend.

87. She also was the best study partner ever (she helped me figure out Physics)!!
